Expectancy
Most Maltese are around 25 cm in height at the shoulder, and
usually weigh around 2-3 kg. You can expect to enjoy approximately
14 precious years with your Maltese.
Personality
Maltese are perky, active and extroverted. They rely on solid
friendship and function best when they are not left alone for long
periods of time. Maltese can have intense bursts of playful energy
just by running around a small space, which makes them perfect
apartment dwellers. They are highly intelligent and train quite
easily, always willing to learning new tricks.
Grooming and Exercise
Maltese require diligence with grooming. Their longer coats
require daily brushing to keep them free of tangles, and regular
bathing is also required to keep their coats looking delightfully
white. They should also have professional grooming at least twice a
year to complement their regular grooming routine. Maltese can
overheat or become quite chilled so make sure that they stay
indoors on a very hot or cold day. If they get plenty of exercise
indoors, they will be fine without access to a yard.
