Expectancy
Most Miniature Dachshunds are around 13-25 cm in height, and
typically weigh in at 4.5kg. You can look forward to spending
approximately 14-17 delightful years with your Miniature
Dachshund.
Personality
Miniature Dachshunds are bold, mighty and daring, thus making them
excellent guard dogs. It's wise to train and socialize Miniature
Dachshunds at an early age, because they may become jealous and
short-tempered when they don't get their way. They are wonderful
friends, and provide a fair share of entertainment with their
clownish and mischievous ways. They are greatly expressive, and are
always ready to play with lots of stamina.
Grooming and Exercise
Depending on their coat-type, Miniature Dachshunds may require
regular or minimal grooming. The long-haired variety requires daily
brushing and combing to keep their coat tidy and free of tangles.
For the smooth variety, grooming is quite simple as a light brush
of the coat or light rub with a hound mitt is all that is required.
Although Miniature Dachshunds can be housedogs, they still need
exercise to boost their mental health. Also, be careful to not let
them overeat and become obese, as weight gain may cause strain on
their backs.
